8x2 Character LCD - Silver Bezel (Parallel Interface)

This little 8-character, 2-line parallel liquid crystal display is a generic equivalent of the Optrex DMC-50448N-AAE-AD LCD. The a version with a black bezel is incorporated into our Orangutan and Orangutan LV-168 robot controllers, and this version is incorporated into our Orangutan SV-328 and 3pi robot. It uses the common HD44780 interface, so sample interface code is widely available for a variety of microcontrollers. This is the smallest package we know of for this familiar interface.

Sample code for other AVRs (e.g. ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega324, and ATmega1284) can be found as part of the open-source Orangutan-lib package and as part of the Pololu AVR library.
